The Puppy Project: Introducing Millie

For the past five years, one of our kids (mainly Addison) has requested a dog for Christmas. Tim and I have always had an easy out: Dad's allergic. Now, let me clarify.
Tim grew up with dogs and I have never heard stories of him sneezing or complaints of him having allergic reactions to the multiple childhood pets that passed through the home. I have indeed seen him become irritated by dogs with allergy symptoms but again, haven't determined the extent of the dog allergy. I believe it was real for a purpose over the past five years to distract from the strong desire our kids have all had for pets.
Beginning in November, Addison increased her efforts of owning a dog to the extreme. Tim challenged her to write a paper detailing the ownership responsibilities of having a pet. Sure, we've had a bunny and bird prior to today, but that's honestly nothing compared to the daily tasks of owning a dog.
Addison took her challenge seriously emailing us a four page research/persuasive paper that had plagiarism at its finest. This girl explained types of dogs for children and those strongly discouraged, what type of ingredients to look for in food, discipline training options, benefits of owning a dog, potential dog sitters, name choices for both boy or girl puppies and so much more. Here's a taste of the opening lines...

"Today, we will be talking about why Horky J. Broersma needs a puppy. There are many, many reasons why she would need a dog, but today we are just going to talk about the main points.
So rumors have been going around that Ms. Horky’s father doesn’t think that she will take care of a dog and be responsible enough to take care of a dog. Well, Ms. Horky’s father, you better be listening to this right now because its about to get real. I have heard that Horky had a rabbit when she was younger, and that her father keeps bringing that up. Well, first of all, you can’t play with a rabbit. You can play with a dog though. Another reason that the rabbit did not work out was because it was an outside pet. Outside pets are always a bit less fun to take care of. "

Addison continued on with her rant as Tim and I read her hilarious display of desperation to own a dog. By the time we read The Puppy Project, Tim had already began the search for breeders of cavapoos which was clearly defined as the desired breed best suited for our family's needs. On our way down to Portland earlier this month, we called a local breeder and had Auntie Becky be our eyes on the then, five week old puppies. There were three girls to choose from and Auntie did a great job determining which was the most playful, adorable and engaged. That was the beginning of December...We now had the almost impossible task of not telling anyone, deleting any and all text threads or photos, and changing all passwords on all devices in order to cover our top secret puppy tracks in order to keep the surprise quiet.

"So after all that we have gone over the basics of having a dog. The benefits of having a dog. More physical activity, less stress, reduce depression, improve heart health, improve social skills, and detect cancer sooner. We have also gone over the negatives of having a dog. Hiring pet sitters when you are away, costs, and cleaning. We have considered the best types of dogs for your family and the worst. We went over what having a dog will teach you. Patience, responsibility, socializing, loyalty, stay active, gratitude, and love unconditionally. We also went over the needs of a dog, and the best foods and toys.
Studies have shown that people are happier when they have a dog by their side( not just at someone else's house ). From my experience, everyone that I know with a dog, is so much happier and alive then anyone else. Dogs pick you up when you are down. They are there when you are need help. And they love you forever. Mr. Broersma, I hope that you take this into consideration, for the sake of your own amazing, precious ( at times ), beautiful children. Just think of how happy they will be."

Thank You
P.S. Dog spelled backwards is God, just going to point that out :)

As for the research paper, well, the first draft wasn't good enough for Tim so he pointed out holes in the paper that needed to be covered. Two hours later, Addison added another couple pages that turned up again, with more holes in the research. Now Addison is getting mad and the secret keepers are experiencing guilt for the clearly visible frustrations of stopping the puppy project dead in its tracks.
The worst came when Baylee was opening a present from my parents which happened to be a stuffed puppy, food dish and all, that Papa and Nana agreed to pet sit. This caused Addi to leave the room angry and in tears. Her poor childhood heart crushed that her parental's are never going to let her have a dog...
Until Christmas Day. Being eight weeks old on the 29th, allowed us to place this Cavapoo fur ball into a small, carefully placed white box on the doorstep while Tim and I both covered the reaction on film.
Best kept Christmas surprise ever.
Puppy Project complete...well, sort of. Tim created an official puppy contract that Addison later negotiated and made minor changes so that the dog was referred to as an equal in the family. Well played.

* One of the top two suggested girl names was Beasley from The Office. The Name has since changed being she looks more like a Millie :)

Hummingbird Kisses

A faint hum. A flutter of the wing. A hummingbird kiss hovering in the air.
The ability to beat the wing two hundred times in a single second.
This is grief; a flutter of memories that holds hundreds of visuals of the one you love which are displayed in a single beat of the heart longing to be with those gone.

{ 1980's Christmas }

I first experienced this the day my sister passed almost two years ago. As the sun was setting in a pink fire of a sky, hummingbirds greeted the porch that once fed them in multiple feeders on Traci's balcony. The pause of movement hovering before diving to the next destination.
Many have sent text messages with images of hummingbirds staring them down outside a kitchen window as a reminder of the connection my sister had with the fascinating bird.
A physical reminder that brought a memory to mind.
The most significant being on a run with a girlfriend this past summer, 1200ft. in elevation, pausing at an overlook facing Mt. Baker and the valley below. A breathtaking display of God's creation that felt like a hands distance away. Our emotions were already in play as we began our run in tears and paused in reflection of what God had done in our lives. As I began to explain how I couldn't even come close to what heaven would be like compared to the view we had in front of us, a hummingbird came within arms reach; eye level, face to face, pausing for what felt like minutes. My body collapsed to the stone rock we stood on as the tears flooded my cheeks. A hummingbird kiss of desired touch, relationship and physical presence fluttered in front of me as if Traci herself, was there to tell me to get it going, stop you're fussing and get running. My girlfriend gently laid her hand on my shoulder praying through the grief left on that view point advantage.

"I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all Your works and consider all your mighty deeds."
Psalm 77:11-12

Hauling out the Christmas decorations I, out of habit, went to grab my phone to call my sister and tell her Christmas was about to unleash throughout my house. Her name greeting me on the Christmas card list in harsh reality that I won't be sending her a card.
The ornament hanging on the tree in memory of my sister not here in person to celebrate.
Memories of decorating gingerbread houses together, discussing what gifts to buy for our parents, what crafts to make for teacher gifts and how to spoil the nieces and nephews have been in full view this month. It's hard not to remember the old... of not that long ago.
One particular Christmas really stands out in my mind. My dad had just recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The weekend we found out all the details of his condition, I spent in Portland visiting Traci. She always had a list a mile long of things to do that if accomplished, would take the entire month to cross each one off. She was never shy of ideas to create memories. This weekend she took us (Tim, Addi & I) to the Grotto to see the beautiful displayed nativity scene carved in stone along with harmonic choirs in a tree light setting. There was a glimpse of fear in our conversation over Dad and tears shed as Daddy's girls were scared for his future. Little did we know four months later she would be facing a diagnoses herself.
I also think back to Christmas of 2015 when us three kids tried to replicate an old childhood picture in our Christmas onesie pj's with perfectly cropped mullets. There was laughter that filled the living room seeing all of us in oversized, ridiculous pj's making the kids think we were all a bit crazy.
And taking you really far back, the memories of red, plaid Christmas nightgowns with curly hair and three kids overly anxious to open presents with Mom slowly... washing... every... single... dish before we could even so much as touch a present to open. And of course, the kid picture in front of the tree or fireplace has to take place as well before the excitement of gifts begin. These are the flutters that cross my mind as I glance at our Christmas tree and see the hummingbird visit the feeder outside my window.

"And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.""
Luke 22:19

Grief can be complicated, exhausting, unexpected and beautiful all in the same moment. I've been punched with grief when not expecting the tears to well up and then find myself laughing in the middle of a memory. I have promised myself that I will not give any ground for the Enemy to steal my joy and that also
includes my joy in grief.
Once a month, we remember what Christ did for us on the cross taking our sins upon Himself to then offer His children eternal salvation if we believe. A time to reflect, repent and remember ALL that Father God has done in our lives. Sure, for some this can be a time of extreme emotions and others a time of gratitude that extends through smiles and worship. Both displaying the act of remembering. We don't do this to get stuck on the fact that we are filthy sinners who don't deserve grace. We do this to remember the freedom we have through the cross. God has provided believers an expression to receive a hummingbird kiss. A moment to reflect on the ways God has rescued, redeemed and forgiven you in life.
I am so thankful for the beauty of remembering.

Sister, thank you for giving me so much to remember.
Two hundred memories in a single second.
Two hundred times two hundred more days I wish I had more with you.
Two hundred ways to say I love you and miss you.
Two hundred ways God gave you miracles that has inspired, encouraged and given me reason to smile.

Hummingbird kisses.
Flutters of memories displayed in mere seconds as a single tear quietly travels down my cheek.
Merry Christmas Sister. You are always remembered.

Christmas Adventures

It's been all things Christmas here lately.
Addison and I have been binge watching on Holiday Netflix catching ourselves smiling back at the TV in the expected guy-gets-girl classic movie ending. We've even managed to boot the guys to the basement a few times claiming all things cheese upstairs.
Myriam has been learning about other styles of Christmas celebrations at school making for some interesting conversations. Meanwhile, Baylee has been learning all things potty training being surprised to learn that pee is indeed yellow (we're finally making progress here!).The playroom tree has been redecorated a few times by our little's and Addison taught Myriam how to make snowflakes so for awhile there was a continual trail of white paper pieces cut up all over the floor. I'm happy to report there was no hair cutting... Knock on wood it's been two years since the last self-inflicted mane style.
Charlie has been focused on basketball in-between learning some new Christmas songs on his guitar. The Man Cub is gaining skills and picks up sheet music very quickly! Not sure I'd let him lead worship quite yet...
Good to have goals!
Baylee has been playing with her new Christmas Tree stuffy 'Tiny Piney.' Her curiosity around the tree is high but no ornaments have been broken or gifts unwrapped. Yes, I have presents under the tree and all the kids think they have figured out the number system on the presents. I keep telling them, "You're not even close!" That's been fun to watch as they all try to guess what the gifts are and which are their own.
As for fun, well, we paid an obnoxious amount of money to see Enchant Christmas which was an overpriced display of lights with gigantic reindeer lost in a Christmas light maze. We planned to ice skate but it cost more money and the line was too long for the amount of patience or attention left in our group. Can't say I'd go again but the family time we had was great... And we had no meltdowns or runners. Win!

{ Safeco Field: Enchant Christmas }

Tim's work party was earlier this month making our party line up simple and small. Mom and I went to the NCCTK Christmas Concert providing cheer, songs and laughter. The gingerbread houses are decorated and already being picked at with all Christmas cards stamped, handed out or ready to be sent. Addison and Tim decorated the office tree together and later her and I played cards by tree light. The score was tied by the end of the night!

This past weekend we went to see The Grinch in theaters and after, met Baylee's newest 1/2 sister at the hospital. There was a special moment as Naomi and I entered the nursery being asked who Mom was to Baylee. She without hesitation replied, "We both are!" Tim and I are very proud of the person and mom Naomi has become. We were happy to celebrate with the family!
My kitchen counters have a delicious display of cookies quickly disappearing into the hands of hungry children and Christmas music is usually always playing somewhere in the home.
My favorite part of December this far is the quiet moments sitting in my prayer chair with just the twinkle lights from the tree and fire mantel lighting the living room. Something magical happens starring at the Christmas tree. My thoughts get lost, memories reappear and excitement of
what's to come brings a contented smile to my face.

{ Welcoming baby Noella. }

I love all things Christmas.
Yes, there are people missing but the beauty of Christmas remains.
The Christmas crafts will continue and advent calendar opened daily. This next week Christmas breaks begins for the kids and the wish for snow becomes real. Our Christmas Day movie line up is already decided and groceries purchased for holiday snacks and meals.
Baby Jesus... We are ready for You!
Merry Christmas.

From Our Family to Yours...

A Misdirected Moment of Pause

A new year.
A new start.
A new beginning.
Sometimes that’s all one needs to turn the page to make the next step into something great.

As a stay-at-home mama to three kiddos, having time to stop, take a deep breath and pause before taking the next step forward is hard to find. This past weekend, My Love gave me just that; a time to stop, pause, reflect and to have fun. I left home with my suitcase packed full of snow pants, snow boots, stocking hats and warm gloves with the expectation of a romantic get-away to Steamboat, CO. I had myself dressed in layers with childcare pre-arranged as Tim had organized the surprise of all surprises. Little did I know that I would be landing hours later, cozy wool socks on, in Kona, Hawaii!

{ Prepared for a snow storm. }

Sure enough, Tim pulled a good one on me (oh, yeah, our oldest was in on the surprise trip too!) as a month of secrets led to the weekend of rest with my dear, sweet friend Catherine, who had moved to Kona six months earlier. The shock was very much present even after five hours of processing over the ocean. The weekend began immediately as we stayed up until one in the morning catching up and chatting. That then led to a days worth of exploring, swimming and enjoying the presence of each other. The pause in life continued the next day as we parasailed 1200 feet up in the sky, paddle boarded over the turquoise seas, snorkeled with schools of colorful fish and hiked drop-off cliffs through the jungle.

{ No boots required. }

{ I could only focus on one thing; turning & waving about
made me dive into the deep blue. }

{ Living on the edge...technically climbing it. }

Life is demanding. Life refuses to stop; it can’t be put into slow motion through selected situations. We are given a choice to move forward or to rapidly make a U-turn unwilling to face what the road ahead looks like. Recently, I have felt overwhelmed with potentially new seasons and being able to clearly hear God’s voice as I want to obediently execute my purpose for His plan in my life.

The push and pull of life has never felt so heavy than what it has been over the past few months. My husband saw this wearing on me and knew that no other Christmas gift would amount to what this weekend would bless me with, as for a brief moment, the strain from the push and pull paused; it fell silent. I’m leaving with clear direction, understanding and insight for the new year. I’m leaving with new experiences shared and tummies full from delicious meals and couch time snacks.

The challenge will come when I wake up back home and find the demands of life meeting me first thing in the morning. The decision to embrace the pause will come when the first panicked wife calls as she is faced with betrayal; when my sister’s doctor appointments fall short and report unwelcome news. The challenge to seek peace when the kids choose to button push and responsibilities of home schooling become present.

I feel more prepared for the road I’m on as 2016 is here and moving. My prayer is the push and pull of responsibilities and desire to fulfill my purpose in life doesn’t cloud the drive to His destination; the journey God has me on. I pray that I can pause a few more times to take in the sights, have some fun and let go of the burden not mine to carry.
And hey, if it takes another surprise trip to Kona in wool socks to dump some burdens, then let it be that Tim seeks a female to pack my suitcase next time rather than the awesome attempt he made.

{ Layover in Portland made for a sweet sister visit & the
random passing by of my MIL. }

School Successes

Fall has passed, routines are set in place, homework is now normal and workbooks are being used assisting in achieving monthly goals set at the beginning of the year. All the kids are doing excellent in school which Tim and I are really proud of as they work hard at the assignments given to them. What surprises me most is the interest Addison is having for drama and impromptu skits! Yes, this coming from our sweetie who struggled with crowds, speaking and being heard. It's been so much fun to watch Addi grow, challenge herself and make a strong community of friends at Mp3.
Charlie has done well and made big strides with reading and writing. He's made great friends and seems to be Mr. Social at school. Some of the best reports though, are when you hear how your son is the one to stay behind, clean up, organize and model gentlemen behavior. Money doesn't touch how rich a parent feels when hearing those positive remarks made towards your child.

{ Painting therapy creations. }

I had the perfectly organized plan for this fall school line up. Myriam was pre-registered for our church program with Addison and Charlie enrolled for all day campus classes at Mp3. It worked out that on Monday and Wednesday's Myriam and I would have the day to ourselves with the Tuesday/Thursday line up giving the older kids three hours of uninterrupted home school time.
The only glitch was that our youngster was still not 100% potty trained. At that same time, I was also having a few concerns for our little one as we had been seeking professional advice from a dear friend specializing in children's occupational therapy. Megan lives just north of the border and has given Tim and I some amazing insight into our spunky sensory babe. Myriam now has a tool belt to use when feeling anxious, nervous or tempted to take off. I have been immensely blessed by our "play dates" with Megan and feel like we've made significant progress over the past few months.
The problem with making perfectly organized plans is they never get off the ground without a bump or two. Our bump was that Myriam was not accepted into our church program which in turn became a huge gift to her. She's now attending the Peer Pre-School Program at Lynden Middle School and loving it. The best part is that it's on the original weekly schedule I was so excited for back when school started.
Myriam is our first child to ever ride a school bus so it was a big deal here on Double Ditch Road. JoAnn is an absolute doll taking such gentle care of the kids buckling them up, handing them toys, keeping the "Magic School Bus" warm and on Friday's handing out treats.
Teacher Kaaren and her team of support understands Myriam's struggles and already have made a difference in her behavior at home. There is overflowing excitement to share about the day at school once she bounces off the bus. I am extremely thankful for this program.
Whatever the need any of our kids have, we will meet it.
If that means not keeping Myriam home then that's what we must do.

{ First & second day on the bus. }

All the kids are now on the count down until Christmas break. There are Christmas art projects ready to be made, cookies ready to be baked and attempts at obtaining an all-family-smiling Christmas card photo taken. What I love most is that regardless of the successes at school or at home, Jesus remains the only reason for this blessed Christmas season.
So, we focus on that as we keep motivated at our school work. The kids continue to build relationship with their class peers and gain friendships alongside of their schoolwork. ABC's, lessons of making right choices, being respectful and learning colors and numbers are being taught.
As for us as parents, we learn from our kids that it's not easier to over complicate issues. Keep it simple; keep it real; and keep it about Jesus in our hearts.

{ Retakes were later in the day... }

Christmas at a glance

Christmas was low key this year as we stayed home all day and honestly did NOTHING besides eat, drink and watch movies. It was extremely relaxing for most as Tim went stir crazy by noon.  The kids were not impressed with the jammie choice of the year and had fun building and playing with new toys and games. Nothing inspirational here today; just our day at a glance.

{ The best we could do for a family photo this year. }

{ Turns out I failed with Christmas Eve jammies. Kids were not impressed with the "legging" style bottoms and Charlie thought they were ugly. My bad. }

{ Them sisters. Myriam was adamant that Addi sit on her lap for pictures.
The faces followed. }

{ Christmas Morning with stockings, cinnamon rolls, hot coffee and
anxious hands to open gifts. }

{ When Tim and I purchased this alarm clock, he didn't fully understand the memo about it being a gift for Addison. She's been patiently waiting to open this for a month! }

{ Loved Charlie's reaction to his Seahawks football helmet! }

{  Finally her own set of LEGO'S! }

{ Pretty sure this is the defense face and below the touchdown pass pose. Cute. }

{ Merry Christmas }

It's Simple...

12th But Not Last: December Thoughts

I love the month of December for many reasons.
I cherish all the family gatherings; the sense of belonging and togetherness.
Even at the Element's work party, I felt like I was chilling with our extended family and I look forward to that special time chatting with as many as I can. Hearing about Anita's writing adventures, Cheri's expecting horse, Jennifer's boys and Doug's downtown apartment remodels makes me feel like I'm the background team member. I love knowing the accounting girls see me as more than just Tim's wife, but as a friend. Our Elements family has grown so much this year and it was my pleasure to introduce the better halves of many to other team players.
Ever since we sold the salon , this has been the one and only thing I miss most.
The people. The relationships. The extended family.
 I still have contact with many of our stylists and I'm grateful for those amazing women as well. Family is more than just blood or those who married into a name.
Family to me, are those who share life together and those at the Windmill and past work adventures are just that: family.

Another reason I love December is the reflection and focus it brings to the manger. There would be no Christmas, no salvation or hope without Baby Jesus. There is immense pressure in society to keep up with the latest and greatest; to make us think we never will have enough. This entire month we are shelving the iPad in honor of Advent and Baby Jesus. There are a few in our home who resemble a two-year old having a temper tantrum when the words, "No iPad," are shuttered. Sometimes stripping the most wanted to make aware of the most important is needed. I would rather our family spend time pondering the birth of Jesus Christ and give Him our best as He always offers more then
we need daily.
The last few months has brought much fear revolving around health. I myself, find every headache or pain to make me question whether I should call the doctor or leave it alone. I've called many times reassuring myself that all precautionary tests are up to date and current. I try to pray for the worry to go away but it seems it's answered with another diagnoses. Am I having an anxiety attack? Possibly. Lately it seems most things are out of control when it comes to our health.
But, I will reflect on the past year and the good it has brought our family, the closer bonds and expressions of gratitude's rather then the negative…at least I'll try.

The sweetest reason I love December is simply because of ALL the treats!
My goodness they come in waves of chocolate truffles to sugar cookies and delicious pies and pastries found at the local bakery. If you haven't made your way downtown to The Lynden Dutch Bakery you should. They have four new scones which are dutch-bred and delicious. Yes, I've tasted and approve them all too.
Today the kids delivered another week of Lynden Tribune's to all 108 homes. Last week Addison snuck a Christmas card in the papers and was gifted with cards, tips and Russel Stover's truffles. Christmas is a time to celebrate, reflect, share and tell others
"Thank You."
These too, are treats for our family.
My board of faces in the salon is needing an update and all the cards being sent to us are eagerly awaiting their new placement for the year. My Love doesn't understand the importance of a card and quite frankly thinks it's silly. Me? I've always known my mom to do Christmas cards and I've always loved seeing and reading about the families
near and far to us.

The kids have about ten days left before Christmas break and if the older two don't strangle, trip or chase the other out of the house, then I've done my job well. I have even gone to the extreme of tempting to cancel Christmas if the "normal" sibling fighting doesn't stop. Actually, what I should do is buy each of them a big red button and every time they want to push the other over the edge they just push the button instead of egos and emotions. I should work on this and bring it to the Shark Tank. Who needs a demonstration when they could just watch and listen to a normal day here with Addi and Charlie? I just tell myself they love each other. Right? This I would not classify as a treat.

December is known to not be such a happy time for my Dad, but I'm praying as we wait for more test results from surgery and procedures that God will grant us more reasons to celebrate then to fear. Until then, I will continue my E2 Fitness workouts so I can overindulge in the treats and party meals of this rich, glorious season.

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men
on whom his favor rest."  Luke 2:14

Quality Control with Gingerbreads

Day four of our countdown to Christmas: Make Gingerbread Houses!
The kids love making these sugar-themed houses and usually eat the makings before the final project is completed. At least that's how it goes for the shortest in the family. With Auntie's help, the frosting was perfectly placed and some laughter was had. Charlie choose the choo-choo and Addi created a crowd-pleasing home. Myriam…
Well, she didn't make it past the tube of frosting and ate the candies before the grout was even dry.
So, now were left with a few masterpieces until little fingers and curiosities pick and peel all the color and walls off the gingerbread beauties.

{ Charlie's quick, minimal design so he could start eating the leftovers. Well played. }

{ I see you! }

{ Sorry for the fancy finger. I'm blaming this one on Auntie and the frosting. }

{ Our quality control, detailed child. }

{ Perfection comes with age…excellent, great job, needs some work. }

A Connection Worth Happening

Anyone that has ever used our facilities knows to watch their backside after flushing as our "system" is known for burping and causing one to panic after a loaded dumb gives way to a possible fake flush.
Each year our septic has gotten worse and worse which finally, after seven years of toilet burps, caused us to make the connection happen.
This was no easy decision as it would have us completely tearing up our front yard. There's really no good time for that to happen. Being that the city lines are 22 feet down, we feared the worse. Thankfully, we (Ray, the guy with the master skills on the tractor) only had to dig 12 feet deep without disturbing our driveway.
It started with Jose cutting the many-years-old rhododendron down and then the Holly tree right next to it. Charlie was most upset as the Rhodie was known as the climbing tree or the "Ninjago" tree for him and the neighbor boys. Perfect timing for the Holly tree to come down as it gave many of us Christmas accents throughout our homes both inside and outside.

After Jose managed to locate sprinkler lines and uproot the trees, Ray did his thing and made some massively large dirt piles in a flash.
The kids loved watching this happen through bedroom windows and standing in awe of the depth of the hole dug. Myriam was barking orders for the guys to leave Mommy's plants alone as she watched them dig each one up. She received many laughs that day…
With just a few hours of no water to make the city connection, we were back and running…darn, had to do laundry again. Although, that too has been a challenge as our dryer of twelve years finally decided to be done with us making the spare bedroom look like a drying room filled with racks and hangers everywhere.
We have a huge appreciation for non-crunchy underwear now that we've had line-dried skivvies for a few weeks!

{The connection at the house after the tanks were destroyed and filled in.}

{Holly for the taking. }

{Twelve feet down sure makes a mess.}

Oh no.
Oh yes. That's a faucet turned on with no running water.
Sunday morning we woke to this.
The main water line was exposed in our frigid, northeastern temperatures which gave us frozen pipe lines and no running water. Thankfully, we were spared a water damage by only having the outside pipeline freeze and nothing inside bursting with frozen glee. After an hour of some heat gun usage and some more work on the tractor covering up the water line, we were back in running business.
A baby wipe shower can only do so much…

And, why not make more mess to match the front yard. Tim decided to have Jose and his fast working crew take down a cedar and evergreen too! I was so busy making dinner for a work party that Jackie and I didn't even notice there was this HUGE tree down in the back yard.
Charlie is LOVING the dirt mess creating BMX bike jumps and tracking in mud everywhere.
This will be my life until April.
Our spring project list has grown by a mile over the past week, but that doesn't even worry me a bit.
My toilets are flushing, there's no burping noises or bubbles to clean up and the only worries about having a fake flush is if you really did plug the joy ride to the ocean.
