The month of December for most people is a time of celebrating with family, remembering the birth of our Glorious Savior, and eating TONS of sweet treats and yummy food!
I remember 9 years ago when my husband came home to tell me that Grandpa VanDyken had a massive heart attack and had died. I remember 6 years ago when Dad was diagnosed with cancer again and Traci soon after with her cancer. Soon after that, Dad was fired and re-hired at work causing way too much stress for him. Then last year Traci found out that her cancer had come back. This year Dad retired after 45 years of volunteering his time, passion, and knowledge to the fire department. December for our family holds many memories: good and bad.
BUT...
It's not the negative we reflect on, but the GOOD in all that God has blessed us with: family, friends, faith, home, and the hope of eternity in Heaven. Yes, December has some hard times and especially this year as we remember the horrific events on the East Coast. We hold our kids a little closer. We express to those we love a little more often. And yet we praise Jesus and thank Him for all the blessings He alone has given us.
I thank God for my little blessings under our roof daily for the love, laughter, chaos, and sweet snuggles He has given me. It can get crazy but,
I LOVE MY CRAZY LIFE!!!
This morning Addison and Charlie were awake at the crack of dawn tearing open through their stockings on their beds. Myriam has been fighting teething, colds, and working on her second round of antibiotics so she was a little more fussy and relaxed when the paper started flying. Of course we started Christmas Eve with our traditional jammies and family picture and have a few extra "family" members in our home which allowed mommy to have a few more cuties all matching one another!
Now, the babies are sleeping, kids are warming up from building snowmen, movies have been watched, and our tummies are full and satisfied from delicious cinnamon rolls. God has been so good to us this past year and we wait in excitement for what tomorrow brings.
Christmas Blessings to all our friends and family!
Love you sis!
ReplyDeleteDecember does have many memories and I am excited for all the ones left to create-crazy ones and all!!
